A true missional church is is a community of broken, reconciled people seeking the reconciliation of other broken people. A true missional church is always reaching out to reconcile and is in no way content with brokeness. A true missional church is immersed in a mission that is theological and not just tactics.
Listen as I speak! This month Of November, of the year two thousand, thirteen, in the year of our Lord Christ, we shall throw down the shackles that oppress us. This one month of the year we shall reject the cultural taboos that constrict our actions, and dictate our norms!
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and when he made man he said it was good. The beard was then, and the beard shall be now! The great theologian and preacher Carl Spurgeon once said, “Growing a beard is a habit most natural, Scriptural, manly and beneficial.”
This, then, is the mark of the man, the beard. By this, he is seen to be a man. It is older than Eve. It is the token of the superior nature, It is therefore unholy to desecrate the symbol of manhood, hairiness. For how womanly it is for one who is a man to comb himself and shave himself with a razor, for the sake of fine effect, and to arrange his hair at the mirror, shave his cheeks, pluck hairs out of them, and smooth them. For God wished women to be smooth and to rejoice in their locks alone growing spontaneously, as a horse in his mane. But He adorned man like the lions, with a beard, and endowed him as an attribute of manhood, with a hairy chest–a sign of strength and rule.
Some of you may find this to be no easy feat. However, I have faith in you! I have faith that your masculanity, and your reliance on the most Holy Creator will see you through this! For, men that think beards are too itchy, or overwhelming will find manhood too heavy.
Put down your trimmers, your razors, your scissors, and your clippers. Throw down the shackles of society! AND GROW YOUR BEARDS!
What say you!?
